Blaerg - Everything Was Altered

Awesome dood who has been laying low in the midwest scene, BLÆRG, aka Toledo’s Scott Wehman has put out a new release, as pay-what-you-want deal on Bandcamp. It’s nine tracks and is full of expertly editted and manipulated breaks and melodies.

By his own description, it’s Smooth-fusion jazz, obscure breaks manipulation & bio-psycho-social-spiritual integration.

Artist: Divtech

by on Dec.21, 2010, under audio, reviews

Divtech is the alias of David Flashner, a young producer from Orange County, California. He came to my attention after hearing hype for his upcoming appearance at a DarkMatter Soundsystem event, and I pretty much know I’m going to want to check out anything they’re hyping.

After checking some of his net-label releases and soundcloud offerings, I was really blown away. His sounds range from detailed, chip-tune infused speedcore with intense atmospheric breakdowns, to ultra-fast digi-metal, in the mold of Drumcorps or Eustachian, to absurd pop-breakcore refixes. It’s all got a really fresh, “I don’t give a fuck” streak to it as well.

You can grab his full length album on Marionette Records:

As well as a split EP with Ladyscraper.

Leaving you with this excellent refix he did for an http://www.ihatebreakcore.com contest:

Album: Capslock – Combustion

by on Dec.20, 2010, under audio

Capslock is Joris Vijfhuizen, a live act and producer from the Netherlands. He’s been making tunes since the gabber days of the 90s, but since the mid-2000′s, he’s crafted a more nuanced and finely honed style of dark, broken beaks influenced by breakcore, electro and industrial.

I’ve been really impressed with some of his work that he’s been releasing for free or as a pay-what-you want download over the past few years, through Ketacore and UEH Records. His 2009 release on UEH “Amniocentesis” was solidly one of the top hard and broken records of the year.

His latest effort is entitled “Combustion”, is 14 tracks of chunky left-field broken hardcore and industrial acid, solidly for fans of Sounds Never Seen and Somatic Responses. You can stream or download it from his bandcamp site linked below.
